Good sleep is the most important determinant for well-being and health, according to sleep researcher, Dr. Matthew Walker. Learn more about his findings and how they affect you in a session being held on Wed. Nov. 28 at the Boothbay Harbor Community Center from 12 to 1:30 pm.
If you get less than 7 or 8 hours of good sleep, your immune system is negatively impacted, your vitality and sexual function are diminished, your memory is bad, you can’t learn, and you have trouble healing and losing weight. Come to these sessions to discover why sleep is so important to your wellbeing and what you can do to improve the quality and length of your sleep, and that of your family members.
The Empowered Patients’ group has picked the topic of sleep for the focus of their two November meetings.
We’ll watch videos of Matthew Walker touching on the topics he covers in his book, Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams and discuss the videos and the book.
It’s not necessary to have read the book, but the book is available to borrow at the Boothbay Memorial Library, at the Boothbay Region Health Center, and available for purchase on Amazon.
We scheduled these “Lunch & Learn” sessions during the lunch hour, so that people can take off from work and bring their lunches to join the discussion. Both sessions will be held at the Community Center in the Meadow Mall in Boothbay Harbor. Bring your lunch and enjoy coffee, tea, water, fruit and cookies at the Community Center. The Empowered Patients group is co-sponsored by the Boothbay Region Health Center and the Community Center.
