Reverse Cognitive Decline Interview with Dr. Teel

June 30, 2021

Listen to Dr. Teel describe the innovative Research Program that he is doing right here in Boothbay Harbor with 25 to 35 patients who have enrolled in his research study to Reverse Cognitive Decline.

Dr. Chip Teel being interviewed by Larry Bauer about his Reverse Cognitive Decline Research Study at the Boothbay Region Health Center

Larry Bauer, the Executive Director of the Family Medicine Education Consortium did this online interview with Dr. Allan S. (“Chip”) Teel on June 15th 2021. In this video interview, Dr. Teel describes how he evolved from a family doctor to a geriatrician specializing in reversing Alzheimer’s. At the end, he says: “These past two years that I’ve been doing this work have been the most exciting and energizing time of my career!”

Isn’t it wonderful that we have such a passionate innovator available to work with the patients in our region who are concerned about their cognitive decline? The good news is that we believe this program is working. The other good news is that we are accepting new patients. For more information about this program, contact Patty Seybold (patricia.seybold@boothbayhealthcare.org).

As a community we can:

1. Take local control of our primary health service.

2. Establish a patient-driven primary care practice model

3. Increase access and use primary health care services appropriately.

4. Make both individual and community-wide choices that will result in improved health status.

1. Get a higher percentage of the population into an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.

2. Reduce perhaps by half the number of unnecessary Emergency Department and Urgent Care visits.

3. Achieve a demonstrable improvement in the health status of the community.
