Wellness Programs

We don’t just prevent and heal injuries and illness; we keep you well! We currently have three active Wellness Programs:

1. FIT, FLEXIBLE & STRONG

Wellness Program for Seniors

Wellness Coach, Mary Baudo is in the center, with two participants of the Fit, Flexible, Strong program on each side.

Fit, Flexible & Strong is a wellness & exercise program for local seniors, that is now in its sixth year. It is run by Wellness Coach & Personal Trainer, Mary Baudo.

2. INCREASE INNER PEACE

Increase Inner Peace is a weekly support group that focuses on improving our understanding of how our minds, thoughts, and consciousness work to create our experience of life in the moment. Our goal is to remind ourselves that it’s possible to live in a light-hearted, loving mood most of the time, regardless of the circumstances in our lives.

3. REDUCE COGNITIVE DECLINE

Research Study

Our Reduce Cognitive Decline Research program is run by Dr. Allan S. Teel. It is based largely on the 30 years of research in Alzheimer’s and Dementia done by Dr. Dale Bredesen at UCLA.

Lifestyle Change

These are lifestyle change programs. Participants learn and practice how to make needed changes in their daily routines to improve their health, wellness and vitality. Wellness Program participants do not have to be patients of the Boothbay Region Health Center.

Co-Designed by Participants

These programs were created based on patient needs and co-created with the Wellness program participants. Each of these programs continues to be shaped & evolved by the participants. This includes the business model for each one. These programs are designed to be affordable to participants and to break even for the Health Center. Participants pay what they can afford and the Wellness Program Professionals are reimbursed from those participant payments. We also request grant funding for these programs to ensure that they can be run sustainably and still be very affordable for the participants.

As a community we can:

1. Take local control of our primary health service.

2. Establish a patient-driven primary care practice model

3. Increase access and use primary health care services appropriately.

4. Make both individual and community-wide choices that will result in improved health status.

1. Get a higher percentage of the population into an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.

2. Reduce perhaps by half the number of unnecessary Emergency Department and Urgent Care visits.

3. Achieve a demonstrable improvement in the health status of the community.
