Stress Relief for Teens & Pre-Teens

In 2022, the Health Center will offer an 8-week course (1 hr./week for 8 weeks) for pre-teens and for teens to show them how to reduce stress in their lives in order to become resilient, happy, and calm, regardless of the circumstances in which they find themselves. The course will be offered face-to-face and online (via Zoom).

Participants will learn, master, and be able to teach their peers how to notice unwanted and unpleasant feelings and how to let go of the thoughts that are creating those feelings and let new, creative thoughts emerge.

They will also learn a simple heart-based meditation technique that will switch their mood in a matter of seconds and leave them feeling calm and in control.

And, they will learn how to take advantage of the gap between their current reality and their vision of the goals they want to create to leverage structural tension, as opposed to psychological tension, to help them achieve those goals.

The current plan is to offer two versions of this online 8-week program: One for Pre-Teens (ages 9-12) and one for teens (13+) in November 2022. We can accommodate up to 20 participants per age group per session.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Patty Seybold.

As a community we can:

1. Take local control of our primary health service.

2. Establish a patient-driven primary care practice model

3. Increase access and use primary health care services appropriately.

4. Make both individual and community-wide choices that will result in improved health status.

1. Get a higher percentage of the population into an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.

2. Reduce perhaps by half the number of unnecessary Emergency Department and Urgent Care visits.

3. Achieve a demonstrable improvement in the health status of the community.
