Will Your Insurance Cover Your Office Visit at Boothbay Region Health Center?
If you have Health Insurance from out-of-state, your insurance carrier may not pay for a visit to a Primary Care Practice that is not your default primary care provider listed on your insurance card. Here’s what you can do. Send/Fax this form to your regular doctor’s office. It asks them to give us a referral from your Primary Care Provider. Once we have that, we can bill your insurance company for your office visit with us. If your insurance is plain Medicare (not a Medicare Advantage plan), your visit will be covered since Medicare provides nationwide coverage. But most other insurers, including most Medicare Advantage plans, only cover primary care visits in your home region.
Your other option is to tell us that you don’t have local health insurance coverage and you want to “self-pay.” That entitles you to the lowest possible rate–the same price that Medicare pays us. Then, you can pay at the time of service, but submit your receipt to your insurance company and ask them to reimburse you.
Your other option is to go to an Urgent Care Clinic or an Emergency Room for care, since those visits are covered by out of state insurers. But the charges will be much higher and if you have a deductible, you’ll have to pay more than it would cost to come see us and receive our excellent, thorough, and convenient care.
