Same Day Health Care on the Boothbay Peninsula

March 8, 2022

Many people still aren’t aware that there is a Community Health Center in the Meadow Mall (across from Hannafords) that offers affordable and convenient medical care, including same day care. We hear all the time about people going to the Urgent Care Center because they think it’s the only local option available to them if they have a problem that needs immediate attention.

Our Boothbay Region Health Center is open 6 days/week (Mon-Sat). We practice family medicine. We do our best to accommodate same day visits for people who have an urgent health concern. You’ll be seen by a primary care provider. To find out the best time to come in, please call first (207) 633-1075. We’ll do our best to fit you in, or if it’s not super-urgent, to give you an appointment in the next day or two. Call us to schedule a same day or convenient appointment for any of the following:

  • Allergies, Colds & Flu
  • Cuts & Wounds, including fish hook extraction
  • Family Planning & Women’s Health
  • Infections, including Urinary Tract Infections
  • Injuries & Sprains
  • Intestinal Distress
  • Lab Work
  • Pain (other than dental–for that, see a dentist)
  • Rashes
  • Sore Throat
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Tick & Insect Bites
  • Chronic Conditions: Asthma, Alzheimer’s, Cardiac Issues, COPD, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, etc.

We’ll screen you for COVID before you come in, and you’ll need to wear a mask in our office.

While we accept most health insurance (including Medicare and Medicaid as well as commercial insurance). If you don’t have any health insurance, you will need to pay at the time of service, but you’ll be billed the lowest legal amount (the same price as what Medicare reimburses). Our fees for primary medical care and local lab work are the least expensive options in this region.

St Andrews Urgent Care

Don’t Pay ER Prices for Urgent Care

The Lincoln Health Urgent Care facility on St. Andrews campus bills out as a Type B Emergency Room, even though it provides Urgent Care level of service. That’s because the St. Andrews Urgent Care operates as a “satellite” of Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. What that billing designation means in practice is that the costs […]

As a community we can:

1. Take local control of our primary health service.

2. Establish a patient-driven primary care practice model

3. Increase access and use primary health care services appropriately.

4. Make both individual and community-wide choices that will result in improved health status.

1. Get a higher percentage of the population into an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.

2. Reduce perhaps by half the number of unnecessary Emergency Department and Urgent Care visits.

3. Achieve a demonstrable improvement in the health status of the community.
