The Board of the Boothbay Region Health Center is pleased to announce our new management team: Kandace Zuber, RN has been recently promoted to be our Practice Manager, and Becky Alley has been promoted to serve as Assistant Practice Manager.
Together, Kandace and Becky are ensuring the smooth operation of our affordable, convenient primary health care center right here in Boothbay Harbor. It is no easy task to run an independent, non-profit community health center that has to deliver high quality care while coordinating with dozens of health insurance companies and medical specialists to ensure that our patients get the care they need. Yet, over the past six months, Kandace and Becky have been working closely together to streamline and improve our operations and to improve the patient experience, while keeping our medical providers productive and effective. They have proved their abilities to run a first class primary care practice.
Kandace Zuber joined the Health Center in January 2020 as a Clinical Care Coordinator. She is a registered nurse, with over 13 years of Emergency Room experience, as well as Acute Care, Pediatric Acute Care, and Operating Room experience. She is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support. She is also a Vascular Access specialist. Before joining the Boothbay Region Health Center, Kandace worked as a Labor & Delivery Nurse at the Rutland Regional Medical Center in Vermont, in Florida at Halifax Healthcare as part of their Vascular Access Team, at Florida Fish Memorial Hospital doing interventional radiology and infusions. Earlier in her career, Kandace practiced nursing in Maine, at Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan, at Lincoln County Healthcare, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, at Woodlawn Rehab and Nursing Center in Skowhegan and at Maine General’s Four Seasons Family Practice in Fairfield.
Since Kandace joined our practice, she has streamlined a number of our patient-impacting processes, including prescription renewals and patient billing, among others. She is also responsible for managing the care for our patients with two or more chronic conditions.
Becky Alley has worked for the Health Center since 2019. She has served as a Health Coordinator, Sr. Health Coordinator (overseeing the rest of the front office staff) and as our Safety Officer. Before joining the Boothbay Region Health Center, Becky worked for LincolnHealth doing patient intake starting in 2010. She received her CNA and CRMA certifications while she worked in the Safe Havens department at St. Andrews Village from 2003 until 2010.
Becky’s experience with direct patient care and administrative duties have helped her to excel at the Health Center, where she has risen to every challenge, from implementing COVID-testing in May 2020 to supervising the migration of the entire staff to a new Electronic Health Records system over the last four months.
