Most people think that if they have a sudden health issue and they are away from their family doctor, they need to go to an Urgent Care Center. That’s not true. At least not in the Boothbay Region. If you have an unexpected medical issue, most can be handled by a Family Practice/Primary Care Provider. This is the least expensive and most sensible option for most conditions. The Boothbay Region Health Center tries to provide same-day appointments for people with unexpected and urgent health conditions. Call us at (207) 633-1075 if you have a health concern and we’ll usually be able to see you the same day or the next day.
There are situations for which an Urgent Care Center is better. If you know you need an X-Ray, for example, but you don’t have a broken bone sticking out of your skin, go to an Urgent Care Center. For many conditions–severe broken bones, heart attacks, difficulty breathing, call 911, or go directly to an Emergency Room.
