Movie: How to Keep Your Brain Healthy

June 6, 2025

In honor of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, the Boothbay Region Health Center is hosting the movie Memories for Life on Wed., June 11th from 5:30 to 8 PM at the Harbor Theater in Boothbay Harbor. There will be brain-healthy food served before the movie starting at 5:30 PM, courtesy of members of the Brain Health program. The movie itself will start at 6 PM and run until 7:35 PM. The film is narrated by Michael Bublé and describes a therapeutic protocol of personalized medicine and lifestyle changes developed by Dr. Dale Bredesen for improving cognition and reducing the risk of cognitive decline.

After the movie, Dr. Allan S. Teel will describe the Boothbay Region Health Center’s Brain Health program, which is now in its 5thyear, with over 100 patients. He will talk about our Boothbay Protocol developed by Dr. Teel and over 110 local patients who are suffering from, or at risk of cognitive decline. Brain scans and lab tests provide detailed diagnoses. Each patient discovers their unique causal factors and gets a personalized set of prescriptions–supplements & medications, along with support for key lifestyle changes in diet, exercise, sleep, brain games, detox, stress relief, music, volunteering, purpose & social connections.

Although the movie is free, an optional $20 cash donation per person would be appreciated to help support the Boothbay Region Health Center’s affordable Brain Health program.

Join Our Brain Health Research Program

We now have over 110 patients enrolled in a ground-breaking research study designed to reverse or at least slow down cognitive decline. This research study is in its fourth full year and we are seeing positive, objectively measurable results. Four patients who have been in the program for over two years have had Volumetric MRIs […]

As a community we can:

1. Take local control of our primary health service.

2. Establish a patient-driven primary care practice model

3. Increase access and use primary health care services appropriately.

4. Make both individual and community-wide choices that will result in improved health status.

1. Get a higher percentage of the population into an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.

2. Reduce perhaps by half the number of unnecessary Emergency Department and Urgent Care visits.

3. Achieve a demonstrable improvement in the health status of the community.
