Great News from IRS!

July 2, 2016

Great news !  We received a letter of determination from the I.R.S. granting us tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This means that any gifts, bequests, devises or transfers you make to Boothbay Region Health Care, Inc. can be deducted on your income tax.  Consult your tax advisor.  This ruling is retroactive to March 18, 2014, so any gifts you have already made to us may be deductible.

Response to our recent fund-raising appeal is coming in.  Thank you to those of you who have already sent us your gift.  Before we look to outside sources for grants or additional gifts, we need to demonstrate that the local community embraces this effort and is willing to get behind us with their support.
Look in this week’s Boothbay Register Windjammer Days edition for Liz Lussier’s article with more information about our plan or click here:.

If you failed to receive our mailing, copies of our brochure and letter are available at The Community Center in the Meadow Mall.
If you or your friends have questions or suggestions for the Health Center, check the weekly calendar for The Community Center.  We will be available Monday afternoons from 2 PM to 4 PM to answer questions or share discussion. Do drop in to chat.

St Andrews Urgent Care

Don’t Pay ER Prices for Urgent Care

The Lincoln Health Urgent Care facility on St. Andrews campus bills out as a Type B Emergency Room, even though it provides Urgent Care level of service. That’s because the St. Andrews Urgent Care operates as a “satellite” of Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. What that billing designation means in practice is that the costs […]

As a community we can:

1. Take local control of our primary health service.

2. Establish a patient-driven primary care practice model

3. Increase access and use primary health care services appropriately.

4. Make both individual and community-wide choices that will result in improved health status.

1. Get a higher percentage of the population into an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.

2. Reduce perhaps by half the number of unnecessary Emergency Department and Urgent Care visits.

3. Achieve a demonstrable improvement in the health status of the community.
