Qualifying families can receive FREE car seats for infants and children. Robyn Ham, one of the Center’s Health Coordinators, has qualified as a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) and registered the Health Center as a designated car seat distribution location through the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety. That means that income-eligible families can make an appointment at the Health Center to receive a free car seat as well as safety instructions.
To be eligible, you must be able to provide:
- A current State of Maine Driver’s License or current State of Maine Identification
- Be participating in one of the following:
- Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
- Mainecare (Medicaid)
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Call the Health Center office at 633-1075 to make an appointment with Robyn Ham. She is available Wednesday thru Saturday each week. When you come, please bring either your WIC folder with currently dated vouchers or a currently dated letter of eligibility from the other above mentioned programs you are currently participating in. Bring your child with you.
For expecting families, the appointment cannot be scheduled more than one month before the baby’s due date.
