An expanded collaborative, now including Central Maine Healthcare and the Maine Center for Disease Control (MeCDC) in addition to Eastern Maine Health, MaineHealth, and Maine General Health, recently issued an update to the state Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).
The portion of the report specific to Lincoln County may be found here:
The CHNA was originally done in 2006 and was previously updated in 2010 and 2013. The report again demonstrates that good health in the community and for individuals is determined by:
1. Socio-Economic factors,
2. public health policy and practice,
3. long-term prevention incl. stopping smoking, getting immunizations, and having effective periodic screening procedures
4. specific clinical intervention for high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol
5. individual healthy behaviors incl. healthy eating and exercise
