About Us

We are an independent, community health center, run BY PATIENTS FOR PATIENTS. We provide primary health care for people who live, work, and play on the Boothbay peninsula and surrounding islands. Since many local residents do not have health insurance, we provide the lowest fees we can charge legally for uninsured patients who pay at the time of service. We also accept Medicare, MaineCare and most commercial health insurance that our local residents and employees carry. For summer visitors, whose insurance we aren’t enrolled with, we ask that you pay at the time of service and then bill your insurance carrier with the documentation we’ll provide to you.

Our mission is to keep you well, and to help you become and stay healthy. We treat both acute conditions (colds, flu, sore throats, wounds, infections, allergies, urinary tract infections, etc.), as well as chronic conditions (diabetes, congestive heart failure, asthma, and so on. We also treat mental health in people of all ages, including children and teens. And we provide women’s health, reproductive health, and family planning for girls and women.

We specialize in diagnosing and helping with hard-to-treat conditions: Tick-borne Diseases, Alzheimer’s & Dementia, Mental Health, among others.

We believe that easy access to healthcare is important, since nobody plans to get sick or injured, so, although we are NOT an Urgent Care Center, we will do our best to see you the same day you call or come in, if you have a condition that needs treating right away.

We also offer Wellness programs. Currently we have two very popular Wellness Programs, which help participants make the lifestyle changes they need to make in order to improve their health & fitness:

  • Fit, Flexible & Strong, a wellness program for seniors, which runs from October through May each year
  • Reduce Cognitive Decline Research program which requires a year-long commitment and is now in its second year.

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation. Our legal name is Boothbay Region Health Care, Inc.. We rely on donations and grant funding for 40% of our revenues. If you find us helpful, friendly, and we make you feel better, please consider showing your appreciation with a donation.

St Andrews Urgent Care

Don’t Pay ER Prices for Urgent Care

The Lincoln Health Urgent Care facility on St. Andrews campus bills out as a Type B Emergency Room, even though it provides Urgent Care level of service. That’s because the St. Andrews Urgent Care operates as a “satellite” of Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. What that billing designation means in practice is that the costs […]

As a community we can:

1. Take local control of our primary health service.

2. Establish a patient-driven primary care practice model

3. Increase access and use primary health care services appropriately.

4. Make both individual and community-wide choices that will result in improved health status.

1. Get a higher percentage of the population into an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.

2. Reduce perhaps by half the number of unnecessary Emergency Department and Urgent Care visits.

3. Achieve a demonstrable improvement in the health status of the community.
