Did you know that the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program provides vaccines at no cost to eligible children? This program is offered by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), which means that program participants must abide by the CDC’s vaccine storage and handling guidelines. The Boothbay Region Health Center is seeking donations for a vaccine refrigerator and freezer, in order to participate in the Vaccines for Children Program. The total amount needed to purchase the refrigerator and freezer is $2,500.
The good news is that we have raised all but $400 through a fund-raiser on Facebook, pie sales, and general contributions. If you’d like to donate to this program, you can do so online, or send a check to the Boothbay Region Health Center, 185 Townsend Ave., Suite R, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. And write “Pediatric Immunizations” in the memo field. In addition to the cost of buying and installing the fridge, we also need to pay for sending our Health Coordinators off to a training session. So, if we exceed our goal of $2500, we can still use the funds to support our pediatric immunizations program.
